El área de Data Science de la empresa Wherex analizó el comportamiento de los precios de más de 100 categorías de productos y servicios entre los años 2020 y 2021, determinando así un principal aumento en gorros desechables (204%), construcción e instalación de inmuebles (103%), manguillas (73%) y gases para materiales de operación (62%).
The study, which reviewed the values of more than 30,000 awards made through the business quotation and tendering platform, also revealed that within the categories studied, the Construction sector is the one that recorded, overall, the highest increase during the pandemic; in this group the goods that increased their values the most were profiles and beams (33%), steel plates (18%) and steel and bronze bars (17%).
The increase in input prices is occurring in much of the world and the causes point to the supply crisis following the decline in shipping vessels. To date, there is a high accumulation of maritime containers in the main ports of the United States and China. In Chile, meanwhile, the Port and Maritime Chamber confirmed that the container deficit has reached 20% and that logistics disruptions will continue in 2022.
Since the beginning of confinement, companies and governments have worked on different strategies to solve stock-outs and product shortages; one solution has been the implementation of technology. The use of digital booking platforms to bring together a company and the maximum number of suppliers has become key to business continuity. Market data today indicates that 52% of multinational companies are taking rapid action to change their supply chains, while 36% would accelerate their investments in technology and automation.
“Al incrementarse la demanda por contenedores, los costos de las tarifas se disparan en la misma medida, lo que se traduce también en un alza de los productos que se transportan. Esto es muy relevante; alrededor del 90% de los productos que consumimos se transportan por vía marítima. Ante un desabastecimiento, hoy las plataformas tecnológicas ofrecen una mayor participación de proveedores y competencia, permitiendo así que los precios de los insumos y servicios se regulen”, comenta Felipe Manterola, co-fundador de Wherex, plataforma para licitaciones industriales inteligentes.
La empresa Wherex opera en Chile desde 2015 y a partir de 2020 en Perú, México y Colombia. La plataforma chilena registra 120 empresas compradoras y más de 20 mil proveedores. “Con el confinamiento y el teletrabajo el uso de la tecnología se masificó en todos los ámbitos, generando en los usuarios mayor confianza y eficiencia. En nuestro mercado, un proceso de cotización o licitación tradicional recibe en promedio 2,2 ofertas, mientras que en Wherex, la cifra aumenta a 5,8 ofertas”, precisa Manterola.
