The Chilean company Frutexsa, an exporter of dried and dehydrated fruits, and one of the most relevant in the agribusiness in the country with more than 30 years of history, has been using the B2B sourcing software Wherex for its purchases for years.
The organization assures that 50% of its purchases of goods for supplying its production plants are made through the platform and plans to reach 80% in the short term by incorporating service contracts.
For Jessica Vera, Frutexsa's purchasing executive with more than 25 years of experience in the industry, the implementation of the technological platform "has been a success", as it has meant of the technological platform "has been a success", as it has meant savings in time and money. The implementation of the technological platform "has been a success" because it has meant savings in time and money. "We have achieved savings of around 20% in purchases of safety equipment (PPE) and electrical materials. We have also achieved savings of 25% in the purchase of pallets through the platform," he says.
On the other hand, the company's purchasing executive highlights the transparency provided by the platform in its bidding processes. This is because the processes are centralized in the same place and it is possible to access the entire purchasing history. This reduces the possibility of fraud or bribery, which allows the company to work with greater peace of mind.
The pandemic and the resulting supply crisis highlighted the need for companies to have a large pool of suppliers to supply themselves. According to Vera, the health crisis caused several inconveniences due to the increase in costs and stock-outs of its suppliers, "having a tool such as Wherex would have been a great help", he says.
"With Wherex, I realized that there were cheaper and even better quality suppliers. Since we have had the platform, we have been able to have fairer competition," he adds.
Wherex currently has a network of 45,000 suppliers, which allows for greater competition in the market. As a result, a fairer market is created where all companies have equal opportunities.
The platform's qualification system has also been key for Vera. Because it improves supplier performance in terms of delivering quality products and meeting deadlines.
