Autopista Antofagasta is a road concessionaire that, since 2013, has been operating the first motorway network in the Second Region. A high standard infrastructure, with complementary services for users such as public toilets, roadside assistance, towing and rescue services.

To meet its constant demand for inputs and services, Autopista Antofagasta implemented wherEX as its procurement system in June 2021. The B2B trade tendering portal is a service where companies from all types of industries can make their purchases easily, saving time and resources.

"The adoption of wherEX was very fast. In just four months we are already making 80% of our purchases through the tender portal," said Claudio Ruíz, Administration and Finance Manager of Sociedad Concesionaria Autopistas de Antofagasta. This is due to the rapid implementation and an intuitive system that automates processes.

In addition, many of the suppliers they were working with were already registered on the platform and they were also able to find new, better and more competitive suppliers as the portal has more than 20,000 different suppliers.

"The challenge is to make the purchasing and tendering area more efficient, relying on the technology offered by whereX to eliminate the bureaucracy of the purchasing process, for example, the preparation of comparative tables for awarding, and management statistics, the follow-up of quotations with each supplier, among others. By automating these activities, the buyer can focus on the critical activities of his process, allowing for more efficient management," he says.

Tendering portal, efficiency and guaranteed competition

But digitising procurement areas does not only bring savings in terms of time. With more suppliers trying to win each tender, it automatically generates more competition. In this way, purchasing companies can find the best prices for the services and inputs they require.

Finally, the executive points out that Autopista Antofagasta is currently very interested in adopting wherEX and all its functions in full. He highlights the Analytics module and the reporting service, which have allowed it to detect opportunities for improvement and efficiency. "wherEX helps us in our process of constant improvement.
